Andrew G. Vajna (born August 1, 1944) is an American Hollywood film producer and founder of the now-defunct Carolco Pictures. He later relaunched another company, Cinergi Pictures. One of the many several films he produced through that outlet was 1995's Die Hard with a Vengeance.

Career[]

Vajna frequently collaborated with producer Mario Kassar and helped launched successful films such as the Rambo trilogy, Basic Instinct and Tombstone as well as various films directed and written by Walter Hill, Paul Verhoeven, John McTiernan or Oliver Stone as well as a few Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicles. Vajna later had to shut down Carolco pictures once films such as Cutthroat Island (directed by Renny Harlin) did poorly at the box office. Cinergi Pictures didn't fare too well either after films such as Color of Night (with Bruce Willis) and Shadow Conspiracy tanked and all of the films released through Carolco and their rights were reverted to Disney who had released the films through their sister companies (save for Die Hard with a Vengeance, which they only owned international distribution to).

Vajna and Kassar eventually became partners again in 2002 to form C2 Pictures and released a few documentaries, foreign films as well as presented the sequels Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (scored by Marco Beltrami), Basic Instinct 2 and Terminator: Salvation in addition to producing the acclaimed Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which ran for two seasons on the FOX television network.
