The Makarov pistol or PM (Russian: Пистолет Макарова, Pistolet Makarova, literally Makarov's Pistol) is a Russian semi-automatic pistol. Under the project leadership of Nikolay Fyodorovich Makarov, it became the Soviet Union's standard military side arm from 1951-1991. It is similar in design to the Walther PP.

Simon Gruber carried this weapon as his own sidearm in Die Hard with a Vengeance. It was also seen in A Good Day to Die Hard.

Karl threw Simon Gruber's Makarov pistol during the heist of the Federal Reserve Bank of its gold bullion, and it was his main sidearm for the remainder of the film, although he never used it.

A Good Day to Die Hard[]

The Makarov PM was seen in the fifth movie of the Die Hard series A Good Day to Die Hard. It was used by Jack McClane at the Russian nightclub when he takes from the kitchen and kills Anton, the associate of corrupt, well-connected Russian official Viktor Chagarin.
