John Amos (December 27, 1939-August 21, 2024) was an American actor and former football player. He played Major Grant in Die Hard 2.
Amos also co-starred in several movies, such as American Flyers, Coming to America, Lock Up and Ricochet. He also appeared in television programs, such as The West Wing, Hunter, Touched by the Angel, The A-Team, Lie to Me and The Cosby Show.
Amos died on August 21, 2024 of congestive heart failure. Details of his death were not public until his daughter confirmed it in October of that year.
